Congress considers doing away with the $1 bill

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/11/30/congress-considers-doing-away-with-1-bill/

This article is about congress considering changing from $1 bills to $1 coins in an attempt to save tax payers a lot of money over the next few decades because coins last for 30 years and paper bills have to be replaced every 4 or 5 years. This would take some getting used to but seems like a practical way to save money. While there might be some resistance to this idea because coins weigh more than paper bills, and people are used to paper bills, it seems if people are not given a choice about it (like in Canada), they would get used to it. Another example of a reason for making the change, is vending machines would not get jammed as often.
